Personalised Gift - ZIA Frame

Hi Friends,

Its been 2 months that we have posted anything & I am so happy that we are making a comeback with this one as this is a very special one. My brother & sister-in-law celebrated their 15th anniversary on 17th April. So I decided to make a personalised ZIA with their names on it. I started with tracing their names "Shrikant" & "Mini" on paper using a stencil. After tracing their names, I decided to colour them using "Sakura Watercolour Pens". It was my first time using these pens and it was such a delight to use them.

Once their names were coloured, to make it complete, I added names of my two adorable nieces "Aarana" aged 5 years and "Aadya" aged 2.5 years above and below their names. Also, when making this ZIA, I had decided that I would divide my entire drawing space in a grid pattern and tangle within the grid so that the tangles look like they have been stacked above each other.  And it was such a cool incident that recently this week a new facebook group titled "Zentangle: Stacked and Tangled" & I felt so happy that my thoughts were in line with the new trend of stacking :)

Almost when I was about to finish the project, I decided to insert a "Happy Anniversary" wish for them in the ZIA :)

Though after making I realised I should have used lighter, string style tangles in some sections specially, eg, I shouldn't have used Knightsbridge & Nipa around the alphabets, I am still very happy with the end product.

My brother, sister-in-law and the little angels loved the gift and this framed ZIA now adorns the wall of their room.

Hope you all like our work.

Neha has also done 2 more tangles for her husband, one with their names and another one with their initials.

We hope you like our work as much as our husband's loved them :)

A special note: We are posting almost after week but that doesnt mean we have gone off our mission 365, its just that its got difficult to post every day. So we have decided to post once or twice every week.

Hi Friends,

4th February is Celebrated as World Cancer Day. The theme for 2015 is "Not Beyond Us" i.e. World Cancer Day 2015 will take a positive and proactive approach to the fight against cancer, highlighting that solutions do exist across the continuum of cancer, and that they are within our reach.

The 2015 World Cancer Day Emphasis on:

-- Choosing healthy lives
-- Delivering early detection
-- Achieving treatment for all
-- Maximising quality of life

This is our small effort to promote the awareness about Cancer. All colours that are used in this ZIA are colours of ribbons for various types of cancer.

As you all know, we are two of us at Tanglicious Connections, so we plan to do one more entry for "Thats New To Me Challenge". Normally, we would have done it under one roof, however, this had to go on today as its "World Cancer Day" today.

Please do share this ZIA to spread awareness.

To be or not to be ... Calm

To be Calm.. easier said than done J

Well I have always been told to never be in a hurry and do everything in a calm spirit. Do not lose your calm for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.

Remain calm, always in control of yourself and you will then find out how easy to work things out

Here is a ZIA to remind all of us to be in a place of calm, a place where we can handle the chaos of life better.

Uncorked for That's New To Me

This week's That's New to Me Week #4 Challenge was to learn a new tangle using letter "U". I decided to learn the tangle Uncorked by CZT Adele Bruno. Uncorked is a fun tangle that would look great for use in a floral pattern or butterly.

Tangled Hand - Joey's Weekly Challenge #46

Hi guys,

This week's Joey's Weekly Challenge #45 was so much fun. Roshni was mentioning just last week that she wants to tangle her hand and here in the mail comes Joey's Challenge "try your hand at tangling". Roshni was so excited and happy with the challenge, she tangled her hand not once but twice and both the times, she has created some great effects true to her self.

The first time she tangled her hand, she was wearing a full sleeves dress, so she tangled her hand like wise. Next time, she was wearing a bangle and thus the bangle. Also, she has made sure to include her wedding ring in her tangles.

Hope you love Tangled Hands By Roshni.

Beauty of Flowers

Flowers don't worry about how they're going to bloom. They just open up and turn toward the light and that makes them beautiful. ~Jim Carrey

The beauty of the flowers speaks for itself.  These are breath-taking. And here is my tangle take on these beautiful flowers

Happy Birthday Aswin

So it was my hubby's 30th Birthday last Saturday. So we went to my In-laws place in Chennai. 30 is a milestone birthday we like to celebrate in a really big way.

Aging is a hard, especially when you begin a new decade but it is also a great
thing. You start realizing that time is going by and that you are growing old. However, it also reminds you to become more responsible and mature.

So here is a tangle wishing him a happy 30th and a cake which I hopefully will make one day

Lots of Love

One Stroke At A Time

The most important thing that I have learnt in the last few days from the art of Zentangle & the tanglers around the world is selflessness. Tanglers across the globe so gracefully share step-outs for their tangle designs & templates for others to use.

Kimberly Michael is one of the tanglers who has been very kind. She has started this tangle group on facebook called "Tangled Type" and she shares her typography templates every week for others to tangle. The 1st template she shared is the Zentangle tag line "One Stroke At A Time"

Here is my end result of the tangelation

The copyrights to the template belong to Studio Grapheme • http://studiographe.me & can be found on facebook Tangled Type group.

Joey's Weekly Challenge #43

Joey's Weekly Challenge #43 was super interesting this week. The challenge was tangle a bunch of 4 tiles with the same pattern and arrange them together to create a single tile. We had fun doing this tangle. We have created 1 tile, and arranged them in a bunch of 4 using Microsoft Powerpoint and arranged them in 4 different ways with each style giving a different look. Super fun...

Thanks Joey for this fun challenge.

Flying Kites

Hi All,

The best part about living in India is that we are a multicultural country with many festivals.

On 14th January we celebrate a festival called Makar-Sankranti (North & West India), Pongal (South India) & Lodhi (Punjab). Apart from all other rituals, this day is celebrated as kite flying day in India. Everyone from big to small spend the entire day flying kites and bonding with each.

I decided to tangle a kite today and combined it with the week 2 challenge of That's New To Me Challenge by Suzanne Moshier, which is to learn a new tangle starting from alphabet "C".

I have used a total of 6 tangles starting from "C" in my ZIA. Off these, I knew Chard already, so I learnt 5 new tangles starting from C: CarrésC-BunCheckered ZagConfettus & Classe

For this festival, we all apply henna. Though I am not a henna artist at all, I tried some tangles on my hand. I used Twizted & a terrible attempt at Zinger.

Hope you love our tangles.

Love & Hope

Hi,

We were wondering the other day, what is it that keeps us going in life? After a lot of thinking and brainstorming, we came up with 2 words, which we think keep us going: Love & Hope.

Hope gives us the support that we can get through any difficulty in life & Love gives us the strength to face all the hardship of life.

Here are our Tanglicious Hope & Love for everyone.

We love to tangle & hope that we keep receiving your love always. Keep Tangling & Connecting With Us.

Tangling with Crayon Etching

Its great fun to live with family who share your passion of art & craft as they keenly get involved in various projects you undertake. My sis-in-law is pursuing a course in Early Childhood Care Education. As a part of her course, she had to create a sample of crayon etching. As she was wondering what she should do for the project, I suggested her to tangle on her crayon etching sample.  Here is the beautiful tanglicious crayon etching that she made for her project.

Materials:
White paper
Wax Crayon
Toothpick or an etching tool

Method:

Colour the paper with various bright colours using wax crayons

After the 1st layer of colours is applied, coat the entire picture with black wax crayon

Once the entire picture is covered with black crayon, etch various tangle patterns using a toothpick or an etching tool

We hope you like our Tanglicious Crayon Etching. Please do leave your valuable feedback.

Sea Life

Hi Friends,

There is something very serene about sea and sea has many lessons to teach us.

1. Tides: Tides teach us that ups and downs are a part of our life. We may face some difficulties in life and may face failures. But this shouldnt affect us. We should take these as learning lessons, and rise up by correcting our mistakes and working hard for progress

2 Sounds of the Sea: The sound of the sea is so calm and soothing. Even a roaring sea during full tide brings a certain peace to soul teaching us that however angry we are, we should hold our anger and not shout. We should deal with all matters with calm & peace.

3. Life: Sea is full of life. The flora and fauna represents that life is very beautiful. The sea and creatures in the sea teach us that we should aim at living in harmony with each other & create a beautiful world around us.

This is our attempt at creating Sea Life and presenting come elements of sea. Hope you all love your Sea Life.

Way to Live

Hello Readers,

As a child, I always collected painting templates that I loved. I was going through some of these templates and picked this one to tangle as its one of my favorites. To me this represents the free spirited tortoise enjoying himself in the snow teaching us the right way of living.

Hope you love my tangled, free spirited tortoise.
